The Texas Prison Centralization Commission was created in 1929 by the 41st Legislature, 2nd Called Session, Senate Bill 49. It was composed of members of the Texas Board of Prison Commissioners, four members of the Senate (selected by the Lieutenant Governor), and five members of the House of Representatives (selected by the Speaker of the House).
